alice in wonderland tour

Dive down the rabbit hole into Alice’s Oxford.

Oxford's dreaming spires have inspired writers and creators of many fantasy worlds, and this tour will introduce you to the places associated with the most famous - Alice in Wonderland.

We will visit the magnificent college of Christ Church, where Alice Liddell and Charles Dodgson (aka Lewis Carroll) lived and Alice in Wonderland was created, and the cathedral where members of Alice’s family are memorialised.

We will walk down to the river where they set off on 'that golden afternoon' and the story of Alice's adventures was first told, and visit her favourite sweet shop, immortalised in ‘Through the Looking-glass’.

Then things will get Curiouser and Curiouser… We will travel through the historic centre of Oxford to see a display of Alice's possessions in the Museum of Oxford, the History of Science Museum which houses Dodgson's photography equipment, the Covered Market which creatively remembers them today, the Oxford University Press which first published the books, and end at the Museum of Natural History, home to the famous dodo and one of both Alice and Dodgson's favourite destinations.

  • Up to 11 people, which is the size limit Christ Church places on guided groups.

  • This tour costs £150 per group plus £10 per person for Christ Church entrance. If you want to do the tour without going into Christ Church that is an option.

  • This is a private tour so I am very happy to run it for just one person, but you will still need to pay my fee, which is £150 per group. At the moment I am not running any public ticketed Alice tours, but I may do in the future if there is enough interest, so please do email me and let me know if you would be interested in that!
